Thank You Card
posted at Friday 13 September 2013 , 15:28

I made this 3x4" "Thank You" card last night with a stamp set (My Mind's Eye's "Find your wings and fly") that I have, but rarely used. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink Tea Dye to ink the edges, as well as Versafine Toffee and Vintage Sepia ink pads for the stamping. As a finishing touch, I added the Prima flower on top of the doily stamp.
This was an easy, quick and fun project to make and I look forward to making more of such small cards in the future!

Recycled Journal
posted at Tuesday 10 September 2013 , 23:13

I made a journal from 2 paper bags (as in the carrier type you get when you buy something from a shop, not the type usually used to make mini albums) I got from Typo some time ago. I was going through all my junk and when I saw them, I thought: Why not make something with them? So I put together this simple little thing. This 4 3/4" by 6 3/4" journal consists of 3 signatures, with 8 pages each, and a closure made of eyelets, circular pieces of the paper bag and twine (which was also from the paper bag!). The pages inside are blank, just like the covers (and hence I didn't bother taking any photographs of the inside).

I love the rough look of this journal and how it was recycled, instead of made from new pieces of paper bought from the store. Hopefully, I can do more of such projects in the future! Meanwhile, I might use this book for some stamping projects. If I do, I might share some photographs of its pages here:)

Have a great Tuesday and happy scrapping!

Grace Mini Album
posted at Sunday 8 September 2013 , 14:31

Hi everyone! Here's a mini album that I made using Authentique's Grace paper collection. I used a 6x6 paper pad, as well as some wooden embellishments from My Mind's Eye.

Here are the pages:

I had quite a few pieces of scrap paper left over, so I made a card with them as well. I used a blank index card, together with double-sided foam tape and some alphabet stamps.

I hope you like it!

Happy Teachers' Day!
posted at Friday 6 September 2013 , 07:00

It is Teachers' Day today here in Singapore and to celebrate it, I made a few cards for my teachers (I gave them the cards yesterday during the celebration) to show them my appreciation. I used the Park Bench paper collection, whereby the main colours comprised of yellow, blue, grey and black.

Here are my 2 favourite cards:

For the card on the left, I used my EK Success 1" Circle Punch to create the scalloped edge, before pasting a strip of paper and tying a ribbon over it. I left the ribbon white and decided against dyeing it. However, for two of the other cards where I used ribbons, I dyed the satin ribbon with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad, Black Soot. The letters are stamped you using a stamped set I had bought from Typo, and they are adhered on using double sided foam tape to create a popped up effect.
For the card on the right, I attached a piece of twine using eyelets and cut out banners to hang on it. I love the look of it, hence I continued to make banners for a few of the other cards. The Chinese characters were handwritten by me and also adhered on using double sided foam tape.

The flower on the above card was originally a light grey Prima flower, but I painted it yellow using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad, Squeezed Lemonade. It was my first time having a go at it, and it was surprisingly easy and fun to make!

Lastly, I stamped this on the back of every single card. The stamp, which was bought from Typo, says "handmade with love just for you". I found it quite a nice touch to add to prevent the back from being too plain.

I hope that through these cards, as well as the messages in them, I can let my teachers know how much they mean to me and thank them for all that they had taught me and done for me. Happy Teachers' Day!♥

Scrapbook page: Farewell BBQ
posted at Sunday 1 September 2013 , 20:14
A few weeks ago, I made a scrapbook page for an album I bought (I might share it sometime later), and I thought I'd share it here. It is on my friend's farewell barbeque. I photoshopped out the photographs because I'm not that comfortable with sharing them.

This page is A5 size (210 x 148mm / 8.3 x 5.8")(the size of the album). I used the remaining scraps I had left over from this project to make the striped background. They are from Crate Paper's DIY Shop paper collection. The black chipboard letters are from American Crafts "Bliss". For the other letters, I stamped them on a piece of scrap with a stamp set I bought from Typo and pasted them on with foam tape, to make them stand out. The satin ribbon is dyed with my Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Broken China".
This is a really quick and simple layout, and since this is also my first one, I didn't try the layering techniques as of yet.
